Our very own stylist and incredible photographer - Caitlin Ogilvie, shares her story and; along with Cooper Robinson, her photography to raise funds for Australia's Bushfire appeal.
The 2009 Black Saturday fires claimed Caitlin's family home. "It was only when I was standing in the supermarket, with my sister-in-law helping me select a toothbrush, that the impact hit me. Everything I owned was gone. I started laughing hysterically with the shock."
The current bushfires have brought up many memories for Caitlin, "We had no warning, my mum ran over my dad with her car trying to escape, the smoke was so thick. His leg was broken, but we got out just in time. We were lucky."
Caitlin and her family had lived at the edge of the Mt Disappointment State Forest for over 20 years, never experiencing so much as a scrub fire. "The magnitude of the Black Saturday fires took us totally by surprise."
There was another surprise too..." it took years to get back a sense of normality. The generosity of people was overwhelming, but it was essential for whole communities to rebuild. The impact of these current fires will be felt for years. Please donate however you can."
